The World Youth Student & Educational (WYSE) Travel Confederation was founded in 2006 with the merger of the Federation of International Youth Travel Organisations (FIYTO) and the International Student Travel Confederation (ISTC). The Confederation's mission is "to increase international understanding through the promotion of travel and educational opportunities for students and youth".

ALTO promotes "in country" learning of foreign languages and provides trading opportunities and knowledge-sharing platforms for its 180+ members. IELTS (International English Language Testing System) is an international standardised test of English language proficiency. It is jointly managed by University of Cambridge ESOL Examinations, the British Council and IDP Education Australia, and was established in 1989. GV schools offer preparation courses for the IELTS tests and - in Calgary, Vancouver and Toronto - also host the IELTS exams.
