GV Sydney (UEC) |
Au Pair Program
Nele: "The lessons were well structured and tailord to our needs"
"I studied Advanced General English and also participated in the Au Pair program at GV Sydney (Universal English College). I really enjoyed my whole experience at the College. All the teachers and other staff were friendly from the moment I arrived at the College. The lessons were fun and I learned a lot thanks to my teacher. His lessons were well structured but he also tailored each lesson to the needs of our class.
Being an au pair also really helped to improve my English, especially my grammar and conversation skills, because I had to speak English all day! The family was very welcoming and I felt like I was part of the family. I enjoyed spending time with the children and it was a great experience to see how an Australian family lives.
I loved the location of the College, as it is in the middle of the city, and so close to Hyde Park and all the food courts and cafes. I also enjoyed going to Coogee beach and went whale watching at Port Stephens with the College.
I will now go back to Germany but I hope to come back to study for the Cambridge Advanced Examination at GV Sydney (Universal English College) because this certificate would be very useful to have in Europe. I then hope to commence a teaching course at a university in Germany."

English for Academic Purposes (EAP)
Eric: "The program was valuable in building my personal confidence"
"I studied EAP at GV Sydney (Universal English College) because it offered clear pathways to Australian colleges and universities. Although the study was challenging, I found the teachers were very encouraging. EAP really improved my writing and speaking. The presentation skills I learnt and developed were valuable in building my personal confidence to speak and present information in academic seminars.
I used my EAP qualification to enter a Hotel Management course without having to take an IELTS test.
I have since completed a Masters degree in Arts Administration and am currently studying for a Masters degree in Commerce."

GV Brisbane |
General English Program, IELTS & Cambridge Preparation
Marina: "They are so committed to what they do"
"Hi, my name is Marina and I am a Japanese girl from Brazil. I took General English classes, the IELTS Preparation Course and the Cambridge Preparation Course at GV Brisbane and I would like to tell you something about my experience here.
I ended up at GV Brisbane not really knowing what to expect. I was looking for a school which could fulfill all my expectations and right from the very first email I sent, GV was the most helpful, and at a great price too.
Everyone is friendly and is always ready to answer my questions or go out of their ways to ensure your experience at GV is better than you expect.
They arrange accommodation, extra activities and weekend trips and above all, they are so committed to what they do. The teachers are all very good at what they do and genuinely care about your success.
I am leaving Brisbane next month to study at North Coast Institute of TAFE and I still can't believe that my time at GV has come to an end. I am really going to miss the city, the school and all the wonderful people I've met here."

General English Program
Kiyoko: "People here are kind and friendly"
"I was wondering what to do during my one month summer holiday and, after hearing about studying English, I decided to go to GV Brisbane in Australia. Although it is supposedly mid-winter in Brisbane, there are large gardens full of trees and flowers and blue skies!
I was greeted with warm smiles from my host family at the airport.
I was really blessed to be in this homestay. Every morning I take a convenient bus to GV Brisbane. There are many classrooms, a computer room, lunchroom and other facilities. I received a warm welcome from the staff.
I am 63 and have worked all my life so study and English are new things for me. The director quickly understood my situation and arranged for me to have a teacher who speaks Japanese to teach me one-to-one. I was lucky to have a teacher who could teach me gently, enthusiastically but also patiently. I also had the chance to join classes with other young students from various countries and although it was difficult sometimes I enjoyed talking to them in English as they all had different backgrounds.
I enjoyed going out to study with these enthusiastic students and interacting with them.
I also went to visit places nearby the school: the art gallery, museum and library. I also went on the ferry. I enjoyed day trips to the zoo, the big parks, the beautiful beaches and mountains too. I was able to have a good time here since people here are kind and friendly. I hope I can continue to study after going back to Japan.Thank you so much GV Brisbane for helping me to have a comfortable time and giving me the chance to really participate!

General English Program
Alexandra: "I want to thank them personally for all their help along the way"
"Thanks to my teachers Jan and Louise I enjoyed my English lessons and learnt so much. I want to thank them personally for all their help along the way. If I pass my exam it will be all because of them.
There were a lot of personalities at the College. We had a lot of jokes in class and learnt a lot from each other as well.
There was a rule that we must speak in English all the time, so even other students from my country were speaking to each other in English. This is very important for making new friends and getting used to speaking to other non-native speakers in English.
My host family was kind and showed me around the local area. After a while I felt a strong bond with them, and the children treated me like a big sister.
Noosa has everything that I wanted in a study location - the beaches, national park, hospitable people and lovely surroundings. We rented a car and traveled around the Sunshine Coast. It was so exciting for me to drive in Australia and have the freedom to go to the places I talked about in my English class and spoke to other students about."
