IELTS Preparation

Our IELTS Preparation course has been designed to prepare you to successfully to complete the IELTS examination.

This course will examine in-depth each of the four modules of the IELTS test and will discuss strategies to better prepare for the final examination.

This test is intended for candidates planning to use English for academic purposes or for immigration purposes.

  • Focuses on the main components of Academic English as used in university-style courses.
  • Flexible delivery, 7-12 weeks in duration.
  • Full-time course but part-time options available too (see Fast Facts).
  • 2 main components to the course: Core studies and IELTS Test Practice. The Core component focuses on improving your language skills. The intensive test practice component builds your familiarity with the format of the test and provides you with the opportunity to practise a range of test-taking strategies within given time limits.
  • Your progress is monitored throughout the course, and your exam practice will provide ongoing feedback about your progress towards mastery of the target skills.

The International English Language Testing System (IELTS) is an internationally owned and globally recognised direct English language assessment of the highest quality and integrity readily available throughout the world. IELTS is a highly dependable, practical and valid English language assessment.

GV Calgary is an official IELTS Test Centre. Spaces for the IELTS exams are limited. Students must register for the IELTS exam when they register for the preparation course at GV Calgary.

The school also offers a one-time half-day pre-test session ($60) on the Friday afternoon before the test, for those who would like to familiarize themselves with the exam.
