English + Cooking/Culinary ArtsTorontoWe offer an English + Culinary Arts program in partnership with Liaison College. Liaison College is the largest trainer of chefs and cooks in Ontario. Founded in 1996, it is increasingly renowned for the strengths of its programs, instructors and graduates. Their culinary programs are designed specifically to address the needs of students and to provide them with the skills, training and knowledge to achieve success in the future. Their instructors are both talented chefs and gifted teachers, holding the professional designation of Master Chef or Certified Chef de Cuisine. Their graduates go on to work at some of the finest establishments in the food service industry and, in the past six years, have finished in the top four at provincial culinary competitions, including a Gold Medal at the 2002 Ontario Junior Chef Culinary Championship and a Silver Medal at the 2004 Ontario Junior Chef Culinary Championship. Liaison College offers students exceptional hands-on training in essential culinary techniques. Students develop a wide range of skills: professional knife and cutting techniques; how to create a wide range of meat, poultry, seafood and vegetable dishes, in classical, contemporary and international styles; the preparation and importance of soups, stocks and sauces; and the fine art of seasoning. All this happens in an inspiring environment under the close supervision and expert instruction of a chef with decades of experience. The Toronto West campus is located in Toronto's west-end near Lake Ontario. Classes are taught in a professional teaching kitchen in an historic building, easily accessible by public transit or car. Liaison College is a proud member of the Canadian Federation of Chefs and Cooks, as well as many other leading culinary associations. Courses offeredEnglish plus Recreational Cooking for individualsIncludes 10 lessons per week of General English at GV Toronto Monday to Friday 8:45 to 10:25 and 20 hours per week of cooking classes at Liaison College Toronto West Monday to Friday 12:00 to 4:00.
