GV Vancouver joins forces with GV Calgary in IELTS Testing

As part of our commitment to quality assurance in language training and assessment, GV Vancouver will be offering services in IELTS testing from as early as October. Until now, Simon Fraser University was the only official IELTS testing center in Vancouver for a number of years, but due to the recent rising demand for IELTS testing and the need for a second location, GV Vancouver’s application was timely and well received by IELTS.

GV Calgary has already been successfully offering IELTS testing services for over two years and has recently won an award from IELTS for quality delivery. GV Vancouver is pleased to join forces with GV Calgary to ensure our clients are well-serviced in western Canada.

The IELTS acronym stands for International English Language Testing System. The test measures the ability to communicate in English across all four language skills – listening, reading, writing and speaking – for people who intend to study or work where English is the language of communication.

Since 1989, IELTS has been proven and trusted worldwide to provide a secure, global, authentic and customer-focused test which measures true to life ability to communicate in English. More than 6,000 education institutions, faculties, government agencies and professional organizations around the world recognize IELTS scores as a trusted and valid indicator of ability to communicate in English.

There are two types of IELTS tests. One test is academic which is taken primarily by those who need to submit a minimum IELTS score for university entrance. Most universities and colleges in Canada and the USA accept results from IELTS. The other test is a general test which assesses general knowledge and English ability. It is primarily used by candidates for immigration application purposes, professional accreditation requirements, or job applications. The general test has been very much growing in demand since Canada Immigration recently starting accepting IELTS scores as a measure of language proficiency.
